Code of Conduct
The Association de Soccer Senior de LaSalle is a purely recreational league where players are expected to play for their own enjoyment and not to meet any competitive agenda.
Players are expected to:
- Be aware of the rules and abide by them
- Play for their own enjoyment and not to meet any competitive agenda
- Control their temper
- Be gracious in victory and defeat
- Acquire a knowledge and understanding of the game's rules and regulations
- Repeated tardiness, or three or more non-justified absences can lead to a player being demoted to substitute status or dismissed from the season
Players who repeatedly break this Code will face disciplinary measures:
- First offence: verbal warning
- Second offence: written and verbal warning
- Third offence and beyond: suspension of one or many games or ejection from the league
Outdoor Rules
Where no modifications of rules stipulated: FIFA rules apply.
- Players who repeatedly break these Rules will face disciplinary measures such as suspension or ejection from the league, as determined by the league’s discipline committee.
- Slide Tackling is not allowed. Player on ground may not play the ball if an opponent is within playing distance of the ball. If slide tackle occurs inside the penalty area a penalty shot shall be awarded.
- With the exception of the goalkeeper, no player may wear long pants. All others must be above knee. Players must present themselves with both jerseys assigned to them for the season.
- ASSL forbids the wearing of 6 stud or screw-in multi LONG stud footwear or any shoes with metal on the sole.
- Only non metal unbreakable sports glasses are allowed. Bare metal on knee braces must be wrapped. Shin pads are recommended but not mandatory. Casts are not allowed, even if wrapped.
- No rebound on penalty shot. It is a goal or a goal kick.
- Goalkeepers may score by kicking the ball into the opponents net.
- Goalkeepers should never be touched.
- Any player smelling of alcohol or other illegal substances shall be dismissed from the game and may be replaced. The player will face disciplinary sanctions ordered by the discipline committee, including probation or ejection from the league.
Indoor Rules
In addition to the rules above, the following rules will also apply:
- The side walls of the gymnasium are in play.
- The rear walls of the gymnasium are in play but an attacking player may not score with a ball played directly off a rear wall, it must be touched by another player, from either team, first.
- Players should avoid placing hands on walls for support “hockey style”.
- The handball crease will double as the penalty area.
- Within the penalty area, players should not use full force when kicking, but should only tap the ball, otherwise any resulting goal will be disallowed.
- If a player kicks the ball and it hits the ceiling or one of the basketball nets, a free-kick is awarded to the opposing team at that location.
